  • Biography:
A native New Englander, John Goff was born in Boston and grew up in the small town of Hanover, Massachusetts.

He was the Director of Community Relations and Personnel for the Portland Pirates Hockey Club in Portland Maine when the Pirates were the top developmental team for the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League. In 1998, he joined the staff of C.K. Burns School in Saco as a third grade teacher.

His article, The Leadership Incentive: A Teacher's Perspective was published in the August, 2003 edition of the Talent Economy Magazine. One Bad Thing is Goff's first book which tells the story of a bystander's perspective of three middle school students struggle to fit in at school.

Goff is truly the epitome of a devoted teacher, mentor and role model to his students. Building strong community minded relationships in the classroom, he facilitates lessons that are meaningful and exciting for his third graders. His continuous desire for diversified learning and social development is embedded in Goff's teaching technique and ultimately transcends to all his students. As the founder of the first elementary school civil rights team, his strong background in diversity, sports and education has molded his student's ability to understand the importance of best practices far beyond the four walls of the classroom.

With a "hands on" approach and a focus on goal-oriented success, Goff has empowered his students to blend respect, teamwork and compassion into their academic values.

His abiding passion and commitment to educational excellence for all students is what sets Goff "at the head of the class". This up and coming author is a leader in developing a safe environment where children can learn while feeling safe and free from harm.

A graduate of Dartmouth College, with a bachelor's degree in psychology and education, Goff earned his Masters Degree in Education from Tufts University in Boston, and holds a Certificate of Advanced Study from the University of Southern Maine.

Living on the coast of Maine, Goff enjoys reading, writing short stories, sports, fitness and spending time with his family.
