COMMUNITY

As an independent, neighborhood bookstore that has been located in Hanover, MA for over 30 years, we look forward to opportunities to help in the community.

2022 - 2023

Storybook Cove is "popping-up" at senior centers and independent living facilities in our community!

Storybook Cove, a family owned and operated independent bookstore located in Hanover, MA, has been providing books to South Shore residents for over 30 years.  While originally a children’s bookstore, currently we cater to readers of all ages.  Many of our original and loyal customers are now grandparents and purchase books for their grandchildren, adult children and themselves.

Often vendors will use the Pop-Up model to explore the marketability of a new product or the demand for the product in a geographic area or for a certain demographic BEFORE opening a permanent bricks-and-mortar location.  At Storybook Cove we are flipping that model on its head!  We know the product, the demand, the geographic area of our customers, and the demographics of those customers – Seniors.

In response to the needs of our growing solid base of Senior customers who are looking for an in-person shopping experience but who may not have the ability to come to Storybook Cove’s location, the “TREASURES from the COVE POP-UP” venture was born.  Under this program, Storybook Cove will bring our knowledgeable customer service, 200+ books for children and grown-ups (including Senior focused books), puzzles and games, and greeting cards to senior centers and 55+ communities on a day and time scheduled with the host group.

This year we "popped-up" in Hanover, Scituate,Pembroke, Cohasset, Hanson and at Fairing Way in Weymouth.  We look forward to many more locations in the future. LINK to info.

December, 2020

During this season of giving, caring and joy tempered by uncertainty, struggles and trials, we can all use an inspiring story of community!

The PTA organization of the Hanover Cedar and Center Elementary Schools wanted to organize a way to give gifts to their children’s dedicated teachers that they could use – books for their classrooms.  The parents reached out to us, Storybook Cove, a local, 30 year old independent bookstore in Hanover hoping owner Janet Bibeau would have an idea on how to proceed.  She suggested that the teachers at each school establish a Wish List on storybookcove.com.  Parents could then access the list, choose items to purchase and have them held at Storybook Cove for delivery to the PTA.  Bibeau also committed that Storybook Cove would donate a portion of the sale proceeds to be used by the PTA in support of the teachers.

And so the community partnership began . . . by December 21, with the generosity of over 265 families, Storybook Cove packaged, by teacher, about 550 books and donated $1,000+ to the PTA.  This is what LOCAL, COMMUNITY, INDEPENDENT is all about --- giving and giving back and supporting each other!
