Part I explores the landing of the Leif Ericson, a Viking, who was inspired by his countrymen's tales of a new land beyond Greenland. The stories continue through Columbus and the landings of the French, Spanish, and English on the shores of the New World. In Part V, Marshall recounts tales of the Louisiana territory, Part VI takes on the American Revolution, and Part VII covers the building and rebuilding of the United States through the presidency of Woodrow Wilson. This book is suitable for children of all ages. British author HENRIETTA ELIZABETH MARSHALL (1867-1941) is most widely known for her children's books.
