SUNDAY (5/5) - 2 p.m. Author Bridget Hart-Kenney and her Dad Joseph Michael Hart will be reading from, discussing and signing their young adult/adult book: Papa's Past -- stories Joseph Michael Hart shared with Bridget about growing up in the Boston area in the 1930-1940's.
Papa's Past is an emotional story of Joseph Michael Hart's childhood life, told through two sets of eyes, his and his daughter's. After he became sick with pneumonia, Bridget knew his stories had to be written down and told before they were lost forever. She treasures these stories of his adventures as a city-going "Huckleberry Finn". As you read Papa's Past, we hope it inspires you to go out and tell the world your own story! Everyone has a story to tell…. so start telling YOURS!
From the author:
This is a story of a young boy growing up in Charlestown, Massachusetts and the surrounding towns. It started as a way for me to capture my father's stories and pass them down from generation to generation, but it became even more than that. Revisiting memory lane became an inner struggle for my Dad where he had to face conflicts with my Grandfather's drinking. He shares many adventures, jokes, disappointments, and moments of strength, as he comes of age in the city. There is a raw emotion that the reader will see as my father faces this vulnerable journey. He connects with older teens and adults of all ages, even though the story is mostly set in the 1930's to 1940's. His storytelling will interest many generations and is a good lesson for all to tell their own stories, good and bad, and of course... always throw in a joke or two.
